Five Parts of Mind - Gobushinkan

Ink painting on paper owned by Onjo-ji Temple. A white-drawn picture scroll bestowed by Enchin, Chisho Daishi, in the 9th year of the Taizhong era (855) while he was in the Tang Dynasty, by Hassen of Seiryu-ji Temple. A national treasure. The inscription reads "Sitasengyo and the Five Parts of Mindfulness," or "Five Parts of Mindfulness" for short. The deities are accurately depicted using ink lines, making this a valuable work that has survived to this day as one of the few remaining copies of the elegant brushwork of the Tang Dynasty. The deities from the six mandalas described in the Vajrasekhara Sutra are arranged in order, with the form, mantra, and mudra of each deity drawn in three tiers, top, middle, and bottom. At the end of the scroll, a portrait of Shanwuwei is added, indicating that this is his version. The missing copy, also owned by Onjo-ji Temple, is a Japanese transcription from around the 11th century.

園城寺蔵の紙本墨画。智証大師円珍が在唐中の大中9 (855) 年に，青竜寺法全 (はっせん) から授けられた白描図像 1巻。国宝。題簽に『悝多僧蘖ら五部心観』とあり，略して『五部心観』という。墨線を駆使して尊像を的確に描き出し，唐代の格調高い筆技を今日まで伝存する数少い将来本として貴重。『金剛頂経』に説かれる6種の曼荼羅の諸尊を順に並べ，各尊の形像，真言，印契を上中下3段に描き，巻末に善無畏の肖像を添えて，これが彼の所伝であることを示す。同じ園城寺蔵の前欠本は 11世紀頃の日本における転写本。
