A political party that organized the most radical anti-government movement in the Philippines in the 1930s. Its organizer, Benigno Ramos (1893-1945), was from Bulacan, Bulacan Province. After working as a provincial government official and an elementary school teacher, he went to Manila and made a name for himself as a freelance Tagalog journalist. In 1917, he was hired by Quezon, the first Senate President, and was active as a speaker at Quezon's public speaking events. However, in 1930, he came into conflict with Quezon after a student strike at a high school in Manila, and he founded the weekly newspaper Sakdal and began his own political activities.
