This crab belongs to the family Spider Crabs of Crustacea, and clings to seaweed (illustration, illustration). Its unique shape, which resembles a piece of seaweed, is reminiscent of the leaf-like shape of a leaf-leaf butterfly, hence the name. The carapace is 3cm wide. The carapace is basically a long isosceles triangle, with leaf-like protrusions on the anterior and posterior edges. This shape varies from individual to individual, but the anterior one is slightly smaller in males. The carapace surface is extremely flat, with granules in the stomach and heart regions. Those clinging to brown algae are brownish-red, while those attached to red algae are purplish-red. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
