Born in the first year of the Choroku era. Son of Kanroji Chikanaga. After serving as a councilor, he became Gon Dainagon in 1517, and advanced to the rank of Juichii in 1520. He loved the flute and was skilled in poetry. He served Emperor Go-Tsuchimikado and Emperor Go-Kashiwabara, and was active in poetry gatherings and linked verse gatherings at the Imperial Court together with Sanjonishi Sanetaka.
