Musicescu, G. (English spelling) MusicescuG

...The works of Hieronimus Ostermayer (1500-1861) and Gabriel Reilich (1630?-1977), who were active in this region from the 16th to the 17th century, were influenced by the Renaissance and early Baroque styles. In the 19th century, the movement for Romanian independence and national unification led to a rise in the desire to create national music, and Anton Pann (1796-1854), Alexandru Flechtenmacher (1823-1898), Gavriil Musicescu (1847-1903), and others contributed to the creation of modern Romanian music with works based on national music. At the same time, musical activity became more organized during this period, and the standard of Romanian musical culture improved dramatically with the establishment of the National Conservatory (1860), the Romanian Philharmonic Society (1868), and the Bucharest Opera House (1877).
