collections

Japanese: collections
collections

...an event held by fashion designers and the fashion industry to present new works. In France, it is called collections (also called présentation de collections), and was once held twice a year, in spring/summer and autumn/winter. In 1954, French fashion designer Jacques Fath (1912-54) opened a prêt-à-porter (high-end ready-to-wear) department within his haute couture line, and announced that works from that department could be combined with skirts from the ready-to-wear store Rodier, which sparked the rise of prêt-à-porter.
