Mount Oyama (Kagoshima)

...Population: 7,456 (1995). The town is a terraced landscape made up of raised coral reefs. Karst topography has developed around the island's highest peak, Mt. Oyama (246m), which is located in the center of the town, and there are circular dolines and countless limestone caves. The settlement is formed in a ring shape near the boundary between the old and new raised coral reefs where groundwater springs up.
