A unit of angle. It is the same as a gon. One grad is 1/100th of a right angle. It was created during the French Revolution to advance the decimal metric system of units, as opposed to a degree, which is defined as 1/90th of a right angle. In Germany, it is called Neugrad, meaning new degree. The symbol g is used, and it is placed to the right of the number. 1 g = 0.9° = π/200 rad.
