A rope used to capture or detain people for the investigation, trial, and execution of a crime. In the Edo period, it was called a torinawa, and was divided into two types: hayanawa (2.5 hiro long, for arrest) and honnawa (5 hiro long, for use after a crime has been determined). The color of the rope varied depending on the magistrate's office, and the way the rope was tied varied depending on the person's status and gender. → Related items: Training equipment Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
