Japanese: 鋼矢板 - こうやいた（英語表記）steel sheet-pile

Steel sheet piles. Used for revetment works at ports and rivers, and for landslide prevention works. They are driven horizontally in succession, but because the joints between the piles can be interlocked, they can be used to construct watertight walls, making them economical and easy to construct. There are various shapes, including the most common U-shape, Z-shape, straight-line, H-shape, and steel pipe-shape, and even the U-shape is subdivided into I-shape, V-shape, and other types depending on the dimensions, steel plate thickness, and cross-sectional performance, so that the most suitable type can be selected according to the situation. Lightweight steel sheet piles (trench sheets) are also available for landslide prevention works that do not require the rigidity and watertightness required for steel sheet piles.

鋼製の矢板。港湾，河川などの護岸工事や山止め用として用いられる。横方向に連続して打込むが，矢板相互間ジョイントのかみ合せができるので止水性のある壁を構築できることに特徴があり，経済性，施工性にすぐれている。形状も，最も一般的なU形，Z形，直線形，H形，鋼管形などがあり，また，U形でも，寸法，鉄板厚，断面性能などの違いでI型からV型まで細分化されているので，状況に応じて最もふさわしいものを選ぶことができる。なお，鋼矢板を使用するほどの剛性と止水性を必要としない山止め用として，軽量鋼矢板 (トレンチシート) がある。
