Japanese: 香焼[町] - こうやぎ

This is an old town in Nishisonogi County, covering the entire area of Koyagi Island at the entrance to Nagasaki Port in the southern part of Nagasaki Prefecture. The development of the Koyagi coal mine began in the early Meiji period, and a shipyard was built and developed, but the shipyard closed in 1955, and the coal mine closed in 1964. With the construction of the Nagasaki Outer Port, the town became connected to the Fukabori district of Nagasaki City, and the reclaimed land became a heavy industrial area. In January 2005, it was incorporated into Nagasaki City along with the towns of Iojima, Takashima, Nomozaki, Miwa, and Sotome in Nishisonogi County. 4.47 ^km2 . 4,606 people (2003).

長崎県南部，長崎港口にある香焼島全域を占める西彼杵(にしそのぎ)郡の旧町。明治初期から香焼炭鉱の開発が進み，造船所も建設されて発達したが，1955年造船所は閉鎖，炭鉱も1964年には閉山した。長崎外港建設に伴い，長崎市深堀地区と陸続きになり，埋立地は重工業地帯になった。2005年１月西彼杵郡伊王島町，高島町，野母崎町，三和町，外海町と長崎市へ編入。4.47km²。4606人（2003）。
