Penile cancer

Japanese: 陰茎癌 - いんけいがん（英語表記）penile cancer

A type of skin cancer that develops on the penis, it is a relatively rare tumor that occurs mostly in uncircumcised boys. It often begins in middle age or later. It begins as a small lump, wart, or ulcer on the glans or the inside of the foreskin, and gradually grows larger, taking on a crest-like or mushroom-like shape, or forming a large ulcer. It is tender and has a foul odor. The penis is either removed or treated with radiation therapy. This cancer is uncommon in Japanese people, and is also uncommon in Orthodox Jews and Muslims overseas. This is thought to be because in these countries circumcision (a surgical procedure to remove the foreskin in a circular shape) is performed shortly after birth or during puberty as a religious ritual.
