Koya [town] - Koya
A town in Ito District, in the northeastern part of Wakayama Prefecture, occupying the Mount Koya area. The main settlement is a temple town of Kongobu-ji Temple, and has been bustling with worshippers since ancient times. The Nankai Electric Railway Koya Line and the Koya-Ryujin Skyline pass through the town, and it is part of the Koya-Ryujin Quasi-National Park, so it attracts many tourists. The town produces high-quality cedar and cypress timber, and seedling cultivation is also thriving. In 2004, the sacred sites and pilgrimage routes in the Kii Mountain Range were registered on the World Heritage List of the World Heritage Convention (Kongobu-ji Temple, Kumano Pilgrimage Routes, Koyasan Choishimichi). 137.03 km2 . 3,975 people (2010).

Takano [town] [Takano]

A former town in Hiba County, bordering Shimane Prefecture in northern Hiroshima Prefecture. The Kannose River flows west through the center of the town, with the central settlement of Shinichi in the river basin. The town receives a lot of snow and is a rice monoculture region, but also produces vegetables, beef cattle, and apples. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Shobara City along with Soryo Town in Kono County, Saijo Town, Tojo Town, and Kuchiwa Town in Hiba County. Area: 159.18 km2 . Population: 2,519 (2003).

広島県北部,島根県に接する比婆(ひば)郡の旧町。神野瀬(かんのせ)川が中部を西流,流域に中心集落新市(しんいち)がある。積雪が多く,米の単作地域に属し,野菜,肉牛,リンゴなども産する。2005年3月甲奴郡総領町,比婆郡西城町,東城町,口和町と,比和町庄原市へ編入。159.18km2。2519人(2003)。
