Burney, Fanny (Frances)

Born 13 June 1752 in King's Lynn, Norfolk
[Died] January 6, 1840, London. British female writer. Daughter of C. Burney. Her anonymously published domestic novel "Evelina" (1778) was highly praised by S. Johnson. Her other works include "Cecilia" (82) and "Camilla" (96). She became a lady-in-waiting at the royal court and married the exiled French soldier D'Albret.
