Japanese: 甲板機械 - こうはんきかい（英語表記）deck machinery

A general term for auxiliary machinery used for purposes other than propulsion of the ship, which is not located in the engine room. The main ones are steering gear, cargo handling gear, anchor weighing gear, mooring gear, etc. (1) Steering Gear Ships are equipped with appropriate steering gear according to their size and speed, but the function of steering is extremely important for the safety of the ship, and it is required by law that ships over 60 meters in length be equipped with powered steering gear. Steering gear consists of a steering gear, its accessories, and a maneuvering device.

船の推進以外の目的に使われる補助機械で，機関室に置かれていないものの総称。主要なものは操舵装置(舵取装置)，荷役装置，揚錨（ようびよう）装置，係船装置などである。(1)舵取装置　船は船型と速力の大小に応じて適当な舵取装置を装備しているが，その機能は船の安全上きわめて重要であり，長さが60mを超える船には動力による舵取装置をつけることが法規で義務づけられている。舵取装置は舵取機とその付属装置および操縦装置からなる。
