Yoshikazu Kikuchi

1482-1504 A military commander in the Sengoku period.
Born in Bunmei 14. The eldest son of Kikuchi Shigetomo. The 22nd head of the Kikuchi clan of Higo (Kumamoto Prefecture). In the first year of Bunki, his great-uncle Uto Tamemitsu took over his position as Higo Shugo. Two years later Tamemitsu was defeated by Yoshiyuki's retainers, and Yoshiyuki regained his position as Shugo, but he died on February 15, 1272. He was 23 years old. He had no children to succeed him, and the official line of the Kikuchi clan came to an end. His childhood name was Miyakikumaru. His first name was Takekazu. His given name can also be read as "Yoshiyuki."

文明14年生まれ。菊池重朝(しげとも)の長男。肥後(熊本県)菊池氏惣領(そうりょう)22代。文亀(ぶんき)元年大叔父宇土為光(うと-ためみつ)に肥後守護職(しき)をうばわれる。2年後為光が能運の家臣にたおされ,能運は守護職を回復するが,文亀4年2月15日死去。23歳。跡をつぐ子はなく,菊池氏の正系はたえた。幼名は宮菊丸。初名は武運(たけかず)。名は「よしゆき」ともよむ。
