Mount Kono

Japanese: 神野山 - こうのやま
Mount Kono

This mountain is located in Yamazoe Village, Yamabe County, northeastern Nara Prefecture. It is 619 meters above sea level. It is a cone-shaped mountain with a gentle base and a hill made of hornblende gabbro in the northern part of the Yamato Plateau. The view from the summit is excellent and it is known as a famous spot for azaleas. On the northeastern slope is the scenic Nabekura Valley, a prefecture-designated natural monument, and on the southern foot is the ancient temple Jinno-ji Temple. It is located about 3 kilometers from the Kannoguchi Interchange on the Meihan National Highway (expressway only).

奈良県北東部、山辺(やまべ)郡山添村にある山。標高619メートル。大和(やまと)高原北部の角閃斑糲(かくせんはんれい)岩からなる残丘で、緩やかな裾野(すその)を引く円錐(えんすい)形の山である。山頂の展望はよく開け、ツツジの名所として知られる。北東山腹に県指定天然記念物の鍋倉(なべくら)渓の奇勝があり、南麓(なんろく)には古刹(こさつ)神野寺がある。名阪国道(自動車専用道路)神野口インターチェンジから約3キロメートルの距離にある。
