Amidakuji (Amitabha lottery) - Amidakuji

Japanese: あみだくじ(阿弥陀籤) - アミダクジ
Amidakuji (Amitabha lottery) - Amidakuji
This comes from the fact that lines were drawn radiating out like the halo that is depicted behind Amida Buddha, and amounts were written at the ends of the lines, which were then hidden when the lottery was drawn.
