A person who is in charge of leading workers in the workplace and directing the execution of tasks in the workplace, also known as a first line supervisor. Examples include the Japanese foreman, the American and British foreman, the German Meister, the French maître, and the Nordic, Eastern European, and Russian meister. Because of their position within an industrial organization, site supervisors are important factors in terms of production efficiency and other labor relations, and today they are also called "key men in industry."
