Site Supervisor - Genbakantokushiya

Japanese: 現場監督者 - げんばかんとくしゃ

A person who is in charge of leading workers in the workplace and directing the execution of tasks in the workplace, also known as a first line supervisor. Examples include the Japanese foreman, the American and British foreman, the German Meister, the French maître, and the Nordic, Eastern European, and Russian meister. Because of their position within an industrial organization, site supervisors are important factors in terms of production efficiency and other labor relations, and today they are also called "key men in industry."

職場の労働者を統率し，職場の課業の遂行を指揮する立場にある人を指し，第一線監督者first line supervisorともいう。たとえば，日本の職長，アメリカやイギリスのフォアマンforeman，ドイツのマイスターMeister，フランスのメートルmaître，北欧や東欧やロシアのメイステルmeisterがこれに相当する。　現場監督者は産業組織内のその立場からして，生産能率やその他の労働関係に対して重要な要素をもち，今日では〈産業のキーマン〉ともいわれている。
