Settsu Genji

Japanese:
Settsu Genji
The direct line of the Seiwa Genji clan, descended from Prince Sadazumi. According to the Sonpi Bunmyaku, Prince Sadazumi's son Minamoto no Tsunemoto had several sons, including Mitsunaka and Mitsumasa, of whom Mitsunaka became the governor of Settsu Province and established his rule as a local powerful warrior based in the Tada region of Settsu Province. Mitsunaka was succeeded by his legitimate son Yorimitsu, whose descendants came to call themselves Settsu Genji. Yorimitsu was a vassal of the Fujiwara regents, especially Kaneie and Michinaga, and gained fame as a warrior of the capital, but his military activities did not extend beyond the maintenance of peace in the capital; rather, he accumulated great wealth by serving as a succession of provincial governors. Yorimitsu's sons Yorikuni and Yoriie lived in Kyoto as mid-ranking aristocrats, and Yorikuni's sons Yorihiro, Yorikane, and Yorizane were also active in Kyoto as Kebiishi or Kurandoh.
