A village located in central Kochi Prefecture, about 5km west of the mouth of the Niyodo River. Former town name. In 1958, it was merged with neighboring towns and villages, and in the following year, 1959, it became Tosa City. Located at the entrance to Uranouchi Bay, it has long been a thriving area for bonito fishing and famous for its dried bonito production, but in recent years it has switched to yellowtail farming. Vegetable greenhouse cultivation is also carried out. A recreational spot for swimming and clam digging. 高知県中部,仁淀川河口の西方約 5kmに位置する集落。旧町名。 1958年近隣町村と合体,翌 59年土佐市となる。浦ノ内湾入口にあたり昔からカツオ漁が盛んで,かつお節産地として有名であったが,近年はハマチ養殖業に転換。野菜の施設園芸も行われる。海水浴,潮干狩の行楽地。
