Also called neonatal reflexes. A reflex is an unconscious response to a stimulus, but this refers to reflexes that are only seen in normal neonatal periods. Many neonatal reflexes are essential for maintaining life, and from the perspective of human evolution, some reflexes are similar to those of monkeys, so they are also called primitive reflexes. In normal infants, many of these disappear within 1-4 weeks of birth, and if they are seen after that or do not appear in the neonatal period, an abnormality in the central nervous system is suspected. These include the Moro reflex, sucking reflex, grasp reflex, and automatic walking reflex. 新生児反射ともいう。反射とは刺激に対して無意識のうちに反応を起すことをいうが,正常新生児期にしかみられない反射をいう。新生児反射は,生命の維持になくてはならないものが多く,またヒトの進化のうえからみて,サルと同じような反射もあることから,原始反射ともいわれる。正常児では生後1~4週間以内に消失するものが多く,それ以後にみられても,また新生児期に出現しなくても中枢神経系の異常を疑う。モロー反射,吸引反射,把握反射,自動歩行反射などがこれに含まれる。
