The strict fiscal and monetary tightening policy implemented by Joseph Morre Dodge (1890-1964), president of the Bank of Detroit, who came to Japan in February 1949 in the capacity of minister and economic advisor to GHQ. It is also called the Dodge Plan. This quickly brought an end to the inflation that had continued since the end of World War II, and is a representative deflation policy in modern Japanese history, along with the Matsukata and Inoue fiscal policies. However, the Dodge Line cannot be said to be Dodge's personal policy. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
