〘 noun 〙 A subject taught in elementary and high schools. It aims to teach the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for home life. In high schools, it was taught to girls, but in 1989 it was changed to coeducation. → Technical home economics. ※The Wounded Reed (1970) by Sono Ayako, 3 "At Rosa Mystica, the home economics teacher, and not even a very good one at that."
