A former town in Miyoshi County in the northwest of Tokushima Prefecture. The southern part is in the lowlands upstream of the Yoshino River, and the northern part is on the southern slope of the Sanuki Mountains. The settlement is mainly located on a small alluvial fan at the southern foot of the mountain, and produces tobacco, wheat, fruit trees, and flowering trees, as well as livestock. It is connected to Kagawa Prefecture by Masuzu Pass. In March 2006, it merged with Ikeda Town, Yamashiro Town, Ikawa Town, Higashi-Iyayama Village, and Nishi-Iyayama Village in Miyoshi County to become a city, Miyoshi City. 43.04 km2 . 5,290 people (2003).

An old town in Mitoyo County, occupying the lower reaches of the Takase River in western Kagawa Prefecture. It produces a lot of rice, vegetables, and fruit. In recent years, food processing, ironwork, sewing, and other factories have been established here. The Yosan Line runs through the town, and it is home to Iyadani Temple, the 71st temple of the 88 Shikoku temples. In January 2006, it merged with Takase Town, Yamamoto Town, Toyonaka Town, Takuma Town, Nio Town, and Zaita Town in Mitoyo County to become a city. Area: 19.33 km2 . Population: 10,070 (2003).

香川県西部,高瀬川下流域を占める三豊郡の旧町。米,野菜,果樹の産が多い。近年,食品加工,鉄工,縫製などの工場が進出。予讃線が通じ,四国八十八ヵ所71番札所弥谷(いやだに)寺がある。2006年1月,三豊郡高瀬町,山本町,豊中町,詫間町,仁尾町,財田町と合併し市制,三豊市となる。19.33km2。1万7人(2003)。
