Japanese: 結負制 - けっぷせい

A unique Korean system of expressing land area. It is thought to have originated from the fact that a single handful of land was considered a piece of land for which a human handful of grain was to be taxed, with 10 handfuls being considered a single bundle, 10 bundles being considered a single fu, and 100 fu being considered a single kye. It was used for a long period from the Three Kingdoms period until 1918, but its content differed depending on the era. There are many different opinions on the understanding of the kye-fu system in each era, but the general consensus is that it can be divided into the following four periods. (1) The <Kye = Gyo> era (until the mid-Goryeo period) This was the era when kye and fu were used as synonyms for the Chinese units of area, gyeo and mun, and kye and fu represented the absolute area of land.

朝鮮独特の土地面積表示法。起源は，人間の手で一握りの量の穀物を租税として負担すべき広さの土地を1把の土地とし，10把を1束，10束を1負，100負を1結としたことに始まると思われる。三国時代から1918年までの長い期間使用されたが，その内容は時代により異なる。各時代の結負制の理解については異論が多いが，通説では次の4期に分ける。(1)〈結＝頃〉時代(高麗中期まで)　結･負が中国の面積単位たる頃･畝と同義のものとして用いられていた時代で，結･負が土地の絶対面積を表した。
