…(2) Draw In any of the following cases, the game is a draw and usually counts as 0.5 wins: (a) when neither player has enough troops for checkmate, (b) when the same position (with the same move) appears three times and one player proposes it, (c) when both players agree, (d) when neither player has captured a piece or moved a pawn for 50 consecutive moves (one move is made by each player), or (e) when the player whose move is the active player is not in check and has no pieces to move, which is called a stalemate (Figure 6).
