Tubuai [Islands] - Tubuai
Part of French Polynesia in the South Pacific, these islands are located south of the Society Islands. They are also called the Tubuai Islands or the Austral Islands. They are a volcanic island chain stretching 1,300 km, but there are only five inhabited islands, including Rurutu and Tubuai. The land is fertile, producing coffee, coconut, vanilla, taro, and other crops. 148 km2 . 6,839 people (2012).
