Nueva Caceres (English spelling)

...Population: 103,000 (1994). Founded in 1573, it is one of the oldest Spanish settlements in the Philippines. Formerly known as Nueva Caceres, it was the center of colonial rule and Catholic administration in the Bicol region for a long time. It is a key transportation hub where all the railways and main roads from Manila to the Bicol Peninsula converge, and it is also a major commercial center with the fertile and vast Bicol Plain as its hinterland. It is not only the provincial capital but also the administrative center of the entire Bicol region.
