The Great Dictionary of Government Policy (English: Kyǒngguk-daejǒn)
Code of Laws of the Yi Dynasty, Korea. 6 volumes. King Sejo tried to correct the inconsistency of various legal codes such as the "Geongguk Six Codes," "Continued Six Codes," and "Economic Six Codes and Transcriptions" that had existed since the beginning of the state (none of which survive today), and to establish an eternal and unchanging law by adding subsequent religious orders. He ordered Choi Heng and others to compile the "Geongguk Daejeon." In the 6th year of King Sejo's reign (1461), the first set of codes was compiled: the House Code, and in the 1st year of King Yejong's reign (69), the four codes were compiled for personnel, etiquette, military affairs, and engineering. After several revisions, the code was published and distributed on January 1, the 2nd year of King Seongjong's reign (71). It was revised several times and completed in the 16th year of the same year. The Official Code covers official regulations, the House Code covers finance and economy, the Rites Code covers ritual regulations, the Military Code covers military administration, the Penal Code covers criminal law, and the Engineering Code covers civil engineering and maintenance. Even after this code was completed, other supplementary codes were compiled one after another, but the six-volume Daedeon Hoetong, compiled in the second year of the reign of King Yi (1865), contains all of these codes and is an indispensable historical source for understanding the legal system of the Yi dynasty.
