Karol (English spelling) KS Karol

A journalist living in France who deals with issues related to the former communist bloc. Born in Poland, he automatically became a citizen of the former Soviet Union when Poland was divided by Germany and the Soviet Union in 1939, and graduated from Rostov University. He regained Polish citizenship in 1946, and moved to Paris in 1950, where he contributed to the magazine Nouvelle Observateur and the newspaper Le Monde, and wrote prolifically on analysis of trends in the communist bloc. He has written many books, including Khrushchev and Western Europe, Mao Zedong's China, and The Castro Way.

フランス在住の旧共産圏問題ジャーナリスト。ポーランドに生まれたが、1939年独ソによるポーランド分割で自動的に旧ソ連市民となり、ロストフ大学を卒業。1946年ポーランド国籍に復帰し、1950年パリに移住して『ヌーベル・オプセルバトゥール』誌や『ル・モンド』紙に寄稿し、共産圏の動向分析に健筆を振るった。『フルシチョフと西欧』『毛沢東(もうたくとう)の中国』『カストロの道』など多くの著作がある。
