Edo chiyogami is chiyogami made in Edo. Originally, chiyogami originated in Kyoto, with Edo being a later development. However, as townspeople's society developed, there was a high demand for it, and the woodblock printing techniques for ukiyo-e woodblock prints were widespread, so Edo chiyogami production developed in a more diverse range than Kyoto. Edo chiyogami is characterized by its many stylish designs rooted in the Edo climate. Designed based on Kabuki plays and other plays, the most prominent designs are those with ornate colors and aesthetic appeal, such as Kabuki Juhachiban, Kumadori, Yakushamonzukushi, and Teibikishima.
