Naval training school - Gunkansourenjo

Japanese: 軍艦操練所 - ぐんかんそうれんじょ

A type of military training school for the Edo Shogunate. In January 1859 , it was expanded from the warship training center located within the Tsukiji Military Academy in Edo, and in June of the same year, not only direct vassals of the Shogunate but also subordinate vassals who wished to enroll were allowed to enroll, and Western-style warship operation methods were taught. A separate training center was also established in Kobe Village, Settsu Province (Hyogo Prefecture) in May 1864 , but was abolished in March of the following year. *Kinrei-ko - Zenshu, Volume 3, Volume 25, April 7, 1864 "Swimming training to be stopped <abbreviated> Swimming training has been stopped at the Imperial Warship Training Center."

江戸幕府の軍事教練所の一種。安政六年（一八五九）正月、江戸、築地講武所内にあった軍艦教授所を拡張したもので、同年六月には、幕府の直臣だけでなく陪臣でも希望者は入所を許し、洋式軍艦操縦法を教授した。なお、別に元治元年（一八六四）五月、摂津国（兵庫県）神戸村にも設けられたが、翌年三月には廃止された。※禁令考‐前集・第三・巻二五・元治元年（1864）四月七日「水泳稽古相止候事〈略〉御軍艦操練所おゐて水泳稽古之儀は御止相成候」
