A layered intrusion on the Skaergat Peninsula in eastern Greenland. It is the most thoroughly studied of the layered intrusions and has had a major influence on the course of petrology. It was discovered by an expedition in the early 1930s. Because of its layered structure, it appears to be a sedimentary rock when viewed from the sea, but it is actually a gabbro. It is a funnel-shaped rock with its axis tilted steeply to the south, presenting a rectangular outcrop, with a north-south diameter of about 9.5 km and an east-west diameter of about 7 km, and the volume of the cone is about 500 ^km3 .
