Born: January 23, 1752 in Rome [Died] March 10, 1832. Evesham Italian pianist, educator, and composer. His musical talent was recognized from an early age, and at the age of 21 he made his debut in London, where he achieved success. He subsequently toured Europe and gained fame. In 1781 he performed a piano duet with Mozart in Vienna. From 1782 onwards he lived mainly in England, working as a conductor, pianist, and teacher. Many outstanding musicians came from his school, including I. Moscheles, J. Cramer, and G. Meyerbeer. He compiled the Gradus ad Parnassum (1817), a collection of exercises that became the foundation of modern piano technique, and left behind over 60 piano sonatas.
