A ritsuryo government office under the Ministry of Central Affairs. Its duties included performance evaluations based on records of daily events (number of days worked and content) for the Queen and the ladies-in-waiting of the 12 offices of the Imperial Palace, as well as sewing clothes for the Emperor and awards, and braiding (braided cords). Its staff consisted of one head, one assistant, one jo, one daisakan, one shozakan, and others. 中務(なかつかさ)省所属の令制官司。職掌は女王および後宮12司の女官の上日行事(勤務日数・内容)の記録から考課(勤務評定)をするほか,天皇の御服や賞賜用衣服の縫製,纂組(組紐(くみひも)類)などを管轄。職員は頭(かみ)・助(すけ)・允(じょう)・大属(だいさかん)・少属各1人ほか。799年允を大小として1人増員,808年大蔵省縫部司・宮内省采女(うねめ)司を併合(812年采女司復旧)。→大宝律令/養老律令
