...In ancient Russia, blood-related communities existed, but with the establishment of class society, they developed into territorial rural communities. In ancient Rus' they were called verv'. Regarding the origin of the mir in modern Russia, there are scholars who hold the continuity theory, which sees the mir as a relic of primitive and ancient communities, and those who hold the discontinuity theory, which sees it as a modern creation by Tsarism.
