A national park in northwest Montana, USA. It covers an area of ​​4,101 square kilometers. It was established in 1910. It is one of the most beautiful parks in the Rocky Mountains, and together with the neighboring Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada, it forms an International Peace Park (established in 1932). This International Peace Park was registered as a natural heritage site of the World Heritage Site in 1995 (World Natural Heritage Site). It crosses the watershed of the Rocky Mountains and is characterized by a thrust fault geologically. There are more than 50 small glaciers and more than 200 glacial lakes scattered within the park, and the natural beauty of colorful steep peaks, vast evergreen forests, waterfalls and streams is also magnificent. In particular, the spectacular view from the Going-to-the-Sun Drive course that runs east to west through the park is said to be one of the best in the world. It is also interesting as a treasure trove of wildlife, and because of its large area, hikers can enjoy the eyes of about 1,000 kinds of wild plants such as yew and heather.

アメリカ合衆国、モンタナ州北西部にある国立公園。面積4101平方キロメートル。1910年制定。ロッキー山脈中でもっとも美しい自然を残す公園の一つで、隣接するカナダのウォータートン・レークス国立公園とともに国際平和公園(1932設立)をなす。この国際平和公園は1995年に世界遺産の自然遺産として登録されている(世界自然遺産)。ロッキー山脈の分水界を横切り、地質学的には衝上断層が特徴である。園内には50以上の小氷河群や200以上もの氷河湖が点在し、色彩豊かな切り立った峰々、常緑樹の広大な森、滝や小川の自然の美しさもみごとである。とくに園内を東西に走るゴーイング・ツー・ザ・サン・ドライブ・コースからの絶景は、世界有数といわれる。また野生生物の宝庫としても興味深く、面積が広いこともあって、イトラン、ヒースなど約1000種類の野草がハイカーたちの目を楽しませている。
