...Lyric poetry itself is difficult to define strictly. In contrast to epic poetry, which must faithfully follow the progression of an event, lyric poetry can be said to refer to poetry that emphasizes expressing the subjective feelings and emotions of an individual. However, it is not uncommon for such elements to flow strongly into epic and dramatic poetry. Especially in modern and contemporary times, when epic and dramatic poetry have declined, almost all poetry can be considered lyric poetry, and in fact lyric poetry represents poetry.

The origin of the Western words translated as lyric poetry goes back to Greek, from lyra (harp) and related things, lyrikos. That is, the word originally referred to songs sung by poets to the accompaniment of the harp, and the poet was not only the writer of the lyrics but also the composer and performer.
