Prince Ichinobe Oshiiwa - Prince Ichinobe of the Wrinkles

Prince Ichinobe Oshiiwa - Prince Ichinobe of the Wrinkles

Date of birth and death unknown. A powerful member of the royal family in the mid-5th century. His father was Emperor Richu, and his mother was Kurohime, daughter of Ashita no Sukune, son of Katsuragi no Sotsuhiko. His children include Ichinobe Oshihawake no O, Iwasaka no Prince, Iwasaka Ichinobe Oshiha no O, and Ichinobe no O. Ichinobe is named after a place in Yamabe County, Yamato Province. He married Arinoomi no Omi no Hiehime, and gave birth to Emperor Kenso and Emperor Ninken. The Anko chapter of the Nihon Shoki states that Emperor Anko tried to pass the throne to Ichinobe Oshiha no O, who was a powerful successor to the throne and was related to the Katsuragi clan by marriage. Emperor Yuryaku resented this, and lured Ichinobe Oshiha no O, who was a powerful successor to the throne and was a member of the Katsuragi clan by marriage, to Kayano in Kutawata, Omi Province, on the pretense of hunting, and shot him dead. It is said that the two children escaped to Harima Province to avoid danger. Later, when his son, Prince Kokei, ascended to the throne as Emperor Kenso and searched for his father's bones, an old woman from Omi Province told him where they had been buried. He used the people to build a tomb on the eastern mountain of Kayano, and buried him there. There is a theory that he ascended to the throne, as there are posthumous titles such as "Ichinobe Emperor Mikoto" (Harima no Kuni Fudoki) and "Ichinobe Miyani Ame no Shita Shirashi Ame Yorozuku Ni Yorozu Oshiha no Mikoto", but there is no definite proof.
