1876‐1932 Swedish businessman and financier. Match king. He started out as an engineer, and after returning from the United States, he integrated the Swedish match industry (abbreviated as STAB, 1917). With branch factories in the United States and around the world, the match conglomerate controlled 60% of the world's match production (1930). The Krüger conglomerate controlled Sweden's export industries, including steel, wood, and pulp, and as financial capital it held huge debts in Eastern European countries. Shocked by the Great Depression, he tried hard to rebuild his company, but failed. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
