Algerian politician. After the occupation of Algiers in 1830, armed resistance movements were organized throughout the country against the French colonial policies in Algeria. Abd al-Khadir was a representative leader of this movement and is considered the father of the modern Algerian national movement. Born to a noble Arab family in western Algeria, his father was the leader of a Sufi order, but in 1832 he was elected Amir al-Moumineen and launched a jihad (holy war) against the invaders.

アルジェリアの政治家。1830年のアルジェ占領以降フランスが進めたアルジェリア植民地化政策に対して，全国各地で民衆の武力抵抗運動が組織された。アブド･アルカーディルはその代表的指導者であり，現代アルジェリア民族運動の父とみなされている。西アルジェリアのアラブ系豪族の出で，父親はスーフィー教団の指導者であったが，32年に選ばれてアミール･アルムーミニーンとなり，侵略者に対するジハード(聖戦)を開始した。
