Kaoru Ikeya
1943－ An amateur astronomer from the late Showa to Heisei eras.
Born on November 30, 1943. Self-taught in astronomy, he discovered five comets using a telescope he built himself. The most famous of these is Comet Ikeya-Seki, which he discovered independently with Tsutomu Seki in 1965. In 2002, he discovered the sixth, Comet Ikeya-Chang. Born in Shizuoka Prefecture. Graduated from Kayo High School.

昭和18年11月30日生まれ。独学で天文学をおさめ,自作の望遠鏡で5個の彗星を発見した。なかでも昭和40年に関勉とそれぞれ独立に発見したイケヤ・セキ彗星は有名。平成14年に6個目のイケヤ・チャン彗星を発見。静岡県出身。華陽高卒。
