...The name Nokongiku comes from the fact that it grows in the fields, as opposed to the old cultivated variety, Kongiku cv. Hortensis, which has deep blue-purple ray flowers. Yamashirogiku A. semiamplexicaulis Makino (also known as Inakagiku) is distributed in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu west of the Tokai region, and grows in sunny mountain areas. It is similar to Nokongiku, but is different in that the base of the leaves clasp the stem and the entire plant is covered with dense white short hairs. ...
