The national script of Cambodia, used to write Cambodian (Khmer). A syllabary consisting of a combination of elements representing phonemes, it has 14 vowels and 32 consonants, with additional symbols added to the consonants to represent vowels. Consonants contain the vowels a and o when used alone. It is written horizontally from left to right. It is derived from the southern branch of Brahmi. It is also thought to have been the basis of the Thai script.

カンボジア語 (クメール語) の表記に用いられる，カンボジアの国字。音素を表わす要素の組合せで成る音節文字で，14の母音字と 32の子音字があり，ほかに子音字に付加して母音を表わす符号がある。子音字は独立ではaかoの母音を含む。左からの横書き。ブラーフミー文字の南方系の文字から派生したもの。また，タイ文字の母体になったと考えられている。
