The national script of Cambodia, used to write Cambodian (Khmer). A syllabary consisting of a combination of elements representing phonemes, it has 14 vowels and 32 consonants, with additional symbols added to the consonants to represent vowels. Consonants contain the vowels a and o when used alone. It is written horizontally from left to right. It is derived from the southern branch of Brahmi.
