A type of ticket. There are those in which the transportation section and validity period are specified on the face and are a single piece (in the case of railways), and those in which the amount is simply printed on the face (in the case of buses). There is a theoretical dispute regarding the legal nature of multi-ride tickets as to whether they should be interpreted as securities representing transportation claims or as tickets with the nature of monetary securities, which is related to whether or not an additional fare (difference) must be paid when transportation fares are increased. In the case of bus multi-ride tickets, it is customary to collect the additional fare (difference) and exchange them for a new multi-ride ticket when fares are revised, so they can be said to be handled according to the latter explanation.

乗車券の一種。運送区間と通用期間が券面上に特定されていて，ひと綴りとなっているもの（鉄道の場合）と，単に金額が券面に印刷されているにすぎないもの（バスの場合）とがある。回数乗車券の法的性質について，運送債権を表章する有価証券と解するか，金銭代用証券たる性質をもった票券と解するかについて学説上争いがあるが，それは運送賃の値上げがあったときの追加運賃（差額）の支払いの有無に関係をもつ。バスの回数乗車券は，運賃改正の場合追加運賃（差額）を徴収して新回数券と引き換えることを通例としていることから，後説による処理がされているといえる。
