Guadalquivir [river] - Guadalquivir
A river in southern Spain that flows west through Andalusia and empties into the Bay of Cadiz. It is important as irrigation water for the rich agricultural region between Cordoba and Seville. Irrigation technology was introduced during the Islamic period. Large ships can navigate downstream from Seville. Total length 656 km. Drainage area 57,000 km2 .
