Metallic soap (metal soap)

Japanese: 金属セッケン(金属石鹼) - きんぞくせっけん（英語表記）metallic soap

A salt of an organic acid such as a higher fatty acid with a metal ion other than an alkali metal. It is generally called aluminum soap, calcium soap, etc., after the name of the metal ion. In addition to neutral soaps formed by equimolar reaction of an organic acid and a metal ion, metal soaps can also be formed with an excess of one of the two. Examples are basic lead oleate 2PbO･Pb(C ₁₈ H ₃₃ O ₂ ) ₂ and acidic lead resinate (C ₂₀ H ₂₉ O ₂ ) ₂ Pb･2C ₂₀ H ₃₀ O _2. In addition, when the metal ion is polyvalent, monosoaps, disoaps, trisoaps, etc. can theoretically be formed depending on the number of organic acids that form the salt, but in the case of aluminum soap, disoaps are mainly formed, and trisoaps have not been confirmed.

高級脂肪酸などの有機酸とアルカリ金属以外の金属イオンとの塩。一般に金属イオンの名をつけて，アルミニウムセッケン，カルシウムセッケンなどと呼ぶ。金属セッケンには，有機酸と金属イオンが等モル反応した中性セッケンのほかに，一方の過剰な組成をもつものも生じやすい。塩基性オレイン酸鉛2PbO･Pb(C₁₈H₃₃O₂)₂，酸性樹脂酸鉛(C₂₀H₂₉O₂)₂Pb･2C₂₀H₃₀O₂がその例である。また金属イオンが多価の場合，塩を形成する有機酸の数により，モノソープ，ジソープ，トリソープなどが理論的には形成されうるが，アルミニウムセッケンの場合などでは，ジソープがおもに生成し，トリソープは確認されていない。
