Born January 1, 1905. Joined Shochiku Kamata Studio in 1924, and later became a director of photography. He was responsible for the photography of most of the films directed by Ozu Yasujiro, including "Autumn in the Barley" and "Red Spider Lily." Died December 7, 1992, aged 87. Born in Hyogo Prefecture.
