Japanese: ドイツ騎士修道会 - ドイツきししゅうどうかい

A medieval religious order of knights (knightly orders). Known as the Deutscher Ritterorden, or the Teutonic Knights. Founded in 1199. Originating from a pilgrim hospital established in Asia Minor in 1189. At the end of the Crusades, the order withdrew from the Holy Land and engaged in colonization of the East in the 13th century, managing vast conquered territories as their fiefs and becoming a force comparable to that of the imperial princes. It declined after the 15th century.

中世の宗教騎士団（騎士修道会）の一つ。Deutscher Ritterordenといい，ドイツ騎士団とも。1199年設立。1189年小アジアに設立された巡礼用病院が起源。十字軍末期に聖地をひきあげ13世紀に東方植民に従事，広大な征服地を所領として経営し，帝国諸候に匹敵する勢力となった。15世紀以後，衰退した。
